Cubs Spring Breakout

In Minor Leagues, News And Rumors by Rice Cube41 Comments

The MLB Spring Breakout event is coming up this weekend and it should be fun for those of us who just want to watch baseball without worrying about who’s going to make the team, especially when it comes to the Cubs:

As you can see, the roster is comprised of Cubs prospects who are notable but have not yet made their MLB debut:

I guess normally you’d see guys like Pete Crow-Armstrong and Ben Brown in there too, but it seems the Cubs are more interested in keeping them in Major League camp for whatever reason, which probably speaks to their importance going forward if you’re trying to draw conspiracy theories.

    Per Pipeline:

    Cubs
Pete Crow-Armstrong and Michael Busch are fighting for spots on the Cubs’ Opening Day roster and will not participate in Spring Breakout. But don’t worry — the team still has five Top 100 prospects playing in the game, which is tied for the most in baseball.

    Injury notes

Kilian is probably a 60-day IL guy to open a spot, Madrigal may or may not be regular IL but it’s not like you can rely on him all that much anyway given prior knowledge

Probably the biggest bit of schadenfreude yesterday, should I have used the term appropriately, is He Who Must Not Be Named having to pay to travel with an indy team to play in front of scouts again.

Going down the column I used Steve Carlton, Pedro, and Gaylord Perry and it still blew my grid up

Blyleven, Mad Max, and Fergie for me. Just happy I avoided the most obvious ones. At only 5 options per with some overlap, that column was bound to be death.
