Wild Card Madness, Mamma Mia!

The Cubs decided to win a game and so they remain two games up on Arizona. This is mostly an excuse to post the yearly rookie dress up day stuff so enjoy πŸ˜‰

There were apparently only 4 possibilities for the KC 200+ square and I couldn’t think of an alternative to the obvious choice

Bummed to miss going to Coors this year, which is a great ballpark near some great breweries, but going to Wrigley more than made up for it (dying laughing).

    berselius,

I can neither remember that abbreviation (San Diego something something?) nor imagine participating in a Bears comment thread after that game. (dying laughing)

I was going to say there’s no worse scenario than a game you can’t afford to lose against a team with nothing to lose . . . but I was wrong.

What’s worse is having to choose between Sutcliffe on TV or Zach on the radio. Goddammit.

    Rice Cube,

Pat is getting about 10% of the airtime. It almost makes it worse that he’s on the broadcast. It’s like being imprisoned in Alcatraz and being able to hear the sounds of parties across the bay, knowing you’re this close to enjoying life yet so very far away.

Despite the fact that I’m very much rooting for it to happen, I wouldn’t say I’m rooting for it, but . . . if Aaron Rodgers ends the season 0/1 passing, I will be (dying laughing).

Can’t really see a good look at the full play at the plate, but it’s hard to understand how or why a runner wouldn’t slide feet-first directly to the plate instead of sliding around it and catching it with the hand when the catcher isn’t blocking the plate.

    Rice Cube,

Sounds like blown Achilles, even worse.

My biggest complaint is that he didn’t play the whole game and suck, which following Love’s good game against some unnamed team, would have imploded multiple hosts of First Take and its various clones. Sadly humanity lost out on that timeline.

San Diego Smooth Jazz Man. IIRC he was the source of the ‘shut him right up’ meme, though that may be lost to the sands of time/beer.

    berselius,

Now I do feel sort of bad.

The only reason I don’t mind that humanity was robbed of a crappy Rodgers performance in week 1 is that every single season before and after the first week of games, I talk ad nauseam about how week 1 is really the last preseason game and tells us very little about anything. Of course it sounds like sour grapes from a Bears fan now, but even if Rodgers looked awful I wouldn’t have put much stock in it.
