I think with everything that Jesse has seen lately working with Mike, that Walt needs to tread lightly with Jesse. I think Jesse has it in him to kill again and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jesse being the one that kills Hank if Hank gets axed.
Great episode. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that much tension come out of a TV show or even a film. And I think that we’re due to see Mike play a bigger role over the balance of the season. It seems like his contempt for Walt is so great that it prevents him from telling Walt that the only thing keeping him alive right now is Gus, and he has to be in on Walt’s desire (if not plans) to kill Gus. It’s pretty amazing how clueless Walt remains about all of that and how badly he’s getting played.
Yeah, dave, Walt is just clueless. I never thought I’d see the day where Jesse had a much better idea of what was going on than Walt, but it’s not even close. Walt has isolated himself. The cartel will have his formula so it’s not like he can go to them for support. Jesse wants nothing to do with him. Gus would like to have him dead as soon as possible. The only person he has is Hank and Hank is trying to catch Walt’s Heisenberg. About the only play from Walt I can see at the moment is in some way using Hank to kill Gus. Walt and Jesse watched Hank kill Tuco so perhaps Walt remembers that and tries to set up a situation in which Hank takes Gus out.
But even if that happened, Mike wants him dead. It’s almost like this is the final season because I really don’t see how Walt survives another 23+ episodes. It’s not like Skylar can act like a ditz to get him out of this one though she’s so fucking clueless she probably thinks she could.

Either that or something major happens that shakes Walt out of the state of resignation and, for lack of a better way of putting it, panic that he’s now in. But that doesn’t seem to be the way that Gilligan rolls, so I’d bet on the former.
Or, alternatively, there will be some brilliant turn of events that catches me completely off guard and just makes the show that much better. If they pull that off, this show easily becomes the greatest television series of all time (at least in my opinion)…

I seem to remember reading prior to the start of the season that the leverage between Gus and Walt would change hands. I don’t see how at this point because Walt has tunnel vision. I figure either way this season has to be the end of Gus Fring. As much I like that character, I’m not sure you can drag it out until the end.
It’s possible this fight with Jesse wakes Walt up. It’s a huge event in the show to have those two go at it like that. It was violent. At one point I thought Walt might kill Jesse and then I actually thought it was somehow possible that Jesse would kill Walt. I didn’t think it was of course, but it was starting to feel that way to me.
Last night’s episode was one of the best in the series. The last 4 or 5 this season have been awesome.
I don’t know if I have an order, but The Sopranos is the top one for me. After that, in some order, I’d probably put The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Deadwood. Justified is crawling up the list too. Do you watch that one?

I have many reliable folks who have told me that I need to watch Justified, so I’ll probably kick into that (and also Dexter, which I haven’t started either) once this season of Breaking Bad ends and work calms down a bit.
I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons of The Sopranos but couldn’t stick with it after that. I thought the episode where Tony had the fever dreams at the end of season two (I think) was about the best hour of television I’d ever seen to that point. The show seemed to get bogged down by its own momentum and some apparent reductions in production quality after that, though.
Other than that, I’m much more of a comedy guy than drama, which is a bit strange since most of what I read these days are crime novels. I still say that television has never been better than it is now, though, and I really think that’s a result of improved technology. You couldn’t make Breaking Bad in a world where people watched TV on 19-inch standard definition screens. Unfortunately, I think it’s kinda killed the movie industry as it had been known at the same time, though I guess most of that damage was done with the advent of the multiplex and digital projection.

I don’t think it was one of the 5 best they did, but it’s one of the most memorable for me. It was pretty much just Chris and Paulie. They took some guy out to nowhereland to kill him, but things didn’t go as smoothly as they wanted. That episode was hilarious.

Apparently the stunt doubles were pretty poor choice, but even if I watched it again and noticed it, I don’t think it changes a thing. That was an intense scene from start to finish. It was as intense as the scene in the first episode this season, but a better payoff in my opinion. Gus slitting that guy’s throat was an important scene, but this one changes the dynamics of the central relationship in the show. A lot of directors wouldn’t dare what Gilligan did last night.

I really don’t see how one of them doesn’t die in the very near future. The only reason either of these two are still breathing is because of each other. And I think now they’re irreparably divided.
One of them dies in this season finale, which maybe takes place several weeks from now. Am I correct in thinking there’s only one season left after this? Maybe season five is the lead up to how that happens. I just don’t see how they’re both alive for much longer, but I also don’t see how Gilligan does an entire season without both of them either.

My bold prediction:
