Not much difference between Lackey and Hendricks, in my mind. I might prefer Lackey.

I agree. I’m actually not sure how much difference there is between any of the Cubs top four to be honest. I think Arrieta is probably the best, followed by Lester, but I’m not overly confident that either of them are much better than Hendricks and Lackey.

    dmick89,

I’d order them as Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Lackey, but the margins between the last three are kind of small. Arrieta has the biggest variance of the four.

Have I mentioned I love Addison Russell?

We should revive the podcast for a steel cage match between your Russell love and Sitrick’s love for Javy (dying laughing)

    FUCK YEAH JAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Belated, but I hope it expresses the whoops and hollers I was unabashedly making in my car about twenty minutes ago.)

    cerulean,

Really? A strikeout there is devastating. You have to protect the plate. That said, easier said than done, especially against Bumgarner.

    Rizzo the Rat,

That was an exceptional pitch that froze him. Tip your cap. But Javy spoiled a lot to get there.

EDIT: My point is that a selective Javy is a better Javy, at least in my opinion.

    dmick89,

At this rate 6 innings is about as far as Bumgarner can go. This is a good approach

I’ve like Smoltz so far, but their commentary on the replay was bad. Rizzo’s foot came off the bag at some point, but they didn’t seem to care where his foot was when he caught the ball which is all that matters.

This is where I wish the Cubs had Andrew Miller. He’s like Chapman, without being shackled with the “closer” label.

The Cubs have seen 155 pitches in 8 innings. I like the approach. I do wish the results were a little (or a lot) more gaudy.

Crap. It would be nice if Joe could bring on Chapman here. Too bad he can’t because it’s the wrong inning.

Letting Contreras catch Chapman seems like a mistake. I’m sure Joe has more information than we do, but he looks like shit back there.

If you’re going to carry three catchers, maybe don’t use Contreras in the late innings. Just throwing that out there.

Pretty much the only thing I remember from my baseball cards when I was a kid was that Lancaster led the NL in balks one year.

I’m done with baseball doing bullshit things like Conor Gillespie. It’s not fun, it’s stupid. He’s bad at baseball. When he’s running a car dealership in Murfreesboro in 25 years, none of his customers should believe he ever played.
