The first "wave of talent" is almost here, and by that, I mean Baez/Alcantara. The next wave may not be that far afterwards.

Baseball America placed 6 Cubs on the list of the Top 20 Prospects of the Northwest League.

#1 Kris Bryant
#7 Paul Blackburn
#9 Yasiel Balaguert
#10 Dillon Maples
#12 Shawon Dunston, Jr.
#17 Kevin Encarnacion

I won't talk too much about them, seeing as it's paywall-protected, but I will say that they were pretty complimentary of Shawon Dunston Jr, a sentiment that seems to be picking up in scouting circles.

The shocker here is Kevin Encarnacion. I knew he had a pretty good season, but I didn't realize just how awesome it was. He hit .355/.431/.566 good for a .997 OPS. He won the NWL batting title even though he didn't qualify for it, because he was 17 bats short and even if you gave him 0-17 he would have won. He's 21, so he'll be expected to climb quickly, but it's a good sign that he dominated this league not unlike Bryant.
