Given the choice between Chapman or Miller, which is better?

    Pros for Chapman over Miller:
Less expensive in terms of prospects.
    Throws the most incredible heat.
    Much younger.

    Pros for Miller over Chapman:
More years of control/not a rental.
    Not a wife-beater.
No history of animosity with the Cubs.

    Discuss.

I’d prefer Chapman if the cost is similar, or even less as you suggest. Chapman is the better pitcher in my opinion. While I think Chapman is probably a scumbag, he’s eligible to pitch and that’s all that matters to me. I highly doubt the Cubs would go after Chapman. I am starting to think a trade for Miller is more likely than I initially thought.

I’d prefer Chapman, too, though I agree it’s unlikely. Also, there might be some tension with Chapman since the Cubs already have a dominant closer.

    dmick89,

    Rizzo the Rat,

Meanwhile, I am starting to come around to the idea of Chapman actually becoming a Cub and the possibility of them pursuing him in the offseason…

Then, his maturity. He, like many other very talented athletes, doesn’t exhibit a lot of it, which is to say that his “makeup” is suspect, and thus someone this FO wouldn’t want to invest in, bringing me back to Miller and more prospects and a more favorable contract than Chapman will probably get this winter despite his “makeup issues”.

Can’t quote the tweet from my phone, but Mets have a “not good” announcement coming. Hoping it’s David Wright’s retirement, that dude should not be playing baseball with multiple spine injuries.

    cerulean,

So help me, when Lin Manuel Miranda writes a sequel to Hamilton called Jackson and The Chop is at the top of my Spotify Playlist, I’m going to remember you predicted it and ask you for lotto numbers.

Hard to believe that was a competitive game in the sixth. I love this team beating up on bullpens after forcing the starter out of the game by racking up the pitches, wearing him down. More of that, guys.

It’s hard enough finding a game the Cubs aren’t favored to win in, but ELO has the Cubs as underdogs in two of the three games in DC.
