Your chance to be Robin Williams

Last year, Brett of Bleacher Nation did a great thing. He blogged for 36 straight hours in the name of charity, all in the name of a pledge drive to Make-A-Wish Illinois. All told, he raised $12,451, all on the backs of kind Cubs fans everywhere. To put that into perspective, that would buy 458 full-sized banana costumes. Instead of that worthy purchase, though, it made the wishes of 2 sick Cubs fans come true.

This is an awesome way for Brett to give back. We’ve all seen the evolution of BN, and it’s explosive growth over the past few years is no accident. Simply put, Brett is the definitive resource for Cubs news on the internet now. He’s successfully made a full-time job out of his passion; not only has he managed to do that, he’s leveraged that success into helping others. Not only am I a little bit jealous, but I’m very impressed.

Now, Brett is up the task again – in the spirit of gamesmanship, he’s bumped it up to a possible 37 hours of nonstop blogging. To put that into perspective, you could watch the Blu-Ray extended edition of the LOTR trilogy back-to-back-to-back, then watch the 8 Harry Potter films back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back, and still have enough time to watch a full Cubs game (315 minutes leftover) in 37 hours (which gives me an idea to a companion piece to Mr. Taylor). As a father, I can’t fathom staying up for 37 consecutive hours.

Here’s the blog entry, and here’s the donation page.
