Today Was a Good Day

80

So the Cubs came back from a 5-4 West-ish road trip, played a terrible early game before storming back late, and walked off the Atlanta Braves today. Also, the Brewers somehow lost again, the Padres also lost, and the Cubs now have 24 games remaining in the month of September to make the Brewers sweat and/or increase their wild card lead for the top position. Very difficult, but not impossible!

Anyway, have a fun game recap:

  1. Today’s pitching injuries I’ve seen include

    Edward Cabrera – elbow inflammation
Shelby Miller – came out of game after his elbow popped
Jason Adam – ruptured quad tendon or something

    Pitchers are glass now

  2. Rice Cube,

Is this embedded tweet only showing half of the tweet for anyone else? it shows up fine on my iPhone, but on my Mac it’s only half of it (width, I get the full length of it). I copied the code RC used and posted it a couple threads back and it showed up fine. The code on this current page appears fine so I have no clue why it’s doing this for me. Anyone else?

  4. Ok so

5 back of MIL in NLC
4 up on Padres for top wild card (functionally 3 up due to potential tiebreakers)
10 games up on Reds before falling out of final postseason berth

Just keep winning and try to get best seed possible

  5. PCA hurt? I have no problem with sitting him for a few games but I’m surprised that the Discourse isn’t shouting about it one way or another.

  6. BVS:
Seems like this whole inning and it’s 4 Braves runs are because Pomeranz didn’t cover 1st on potential double play for out 3.

    I think that’s a fair assessment.

    Also holy crap Shaw.

  8. Pointed out in BN that the Nats starter has given up the second most homers in all of baseball this year, gets crushed by lefties, and the wind is blowing out to RF.

  9. Dontrelle Willis on the tv broadcast called out “Good pitch!” before the ball had reached the plate on the called strike three to Abrams, which is exactly the kind of pitcher-friendly bias I’m looking for in an analyst! (dying laughing)

  10. It happens if someone includes a link, but it’s also dependent on the size the page is rendered. I started to look into it and figured it’s not a big deal. If you check out the page on your Mac it won’t have the same margin as on the phone.

  11. dmick89,

That makes sense. Yeah, it’s such a fringe thing there isn’t a universe where it would be worth making the tweaks necessary to change it (dying laughing).
