Episode 23: Is this thing on?

In by berselius25 Comments

By unpopular demand, we are back! In this episode, Jeff (berselius), David (sitrick2), and Myles (…..Myles) get caught up on the Cubs goings-on, including

  • Various offseason PR disasters
  • The tumbleweeds bouncing around the farm system
  • The rash of extensions around the league
  • The new CBA changes
  • What baseball might look like in 2021.
  • Carlos Zambrano being the GOAT of former Cubs you might get into a fight over
  • berselius gives programming suggestions for the new 24-hour Cubs TV network.
  • Addison Russell still being on the team
  • Player progression/regression predictions
  • Win totals

Listen and enjoy. Or don’t. I can’t tell you what to do.

    Myles,

this front office does the exact opposite of what I’d do these days.

This is how I felt when I unfollowed the Cubs (like 10 years ago). Eventually they started following my plan and subsequently won a World Series.

The moral of the story is to always do what the readers of this site want.

After clicking through 3 other Obstructed View podcasts on Podcast Republic, I found it! Thank dog I didn’t have to listen to critique of the latest stage production of Beauty and the Beast.

Some immediate questions whili scrolling through the archive:
    — Are 21 episodes in 5 years enough to even call it an archive?
    — Was starting on episode 3 an amazing creative coup or simply the epitome of OV culture?
    — Which is the better segment to go back to, The Mike Olt wrist injury, or the Ian Happ conundrum?
    — Was podcast 11 the OV Podcast GOAT? After all, it covered The Jason Heyward Insta-fit and AND Matt Murton’s arm hair.
    — Shouldn’t I quit wasting time commenting on a discredited blog and go to work now?

My favorite part of this podcast is the complete no sell when I tried to mumble my way through a Tyler Chatwood missing his target driving the bullpen cart joke.

    Ryno,

Any thoughts on the Packers actually signing free agents this year? I like the Amos deal.

Chatter on the underground OV grapevine is they have been consulting with the Ricketts family, so…

    Myles,

If I actually had the energy to edit all 104 minutes of this I would have put in a minute of dead silence after that one (dying laughing).

    This podcast is fantastic!!!!

Actual quote, “He’s real good, I like him a lot.”

(Still, so much better than listening to blowhards like Russo, Bayless, and SA Smith.)

They don’t talk about blood diamonds.

I think we lost the first two in a platform migration or something. I should have them on this computer if you are dying for that hot content.

    dmick89,

Any ranking that gives the Cubs only a 34% better chance at making the playoffs than Tigers is nuts. Just goes to show that the Tigers are far too highly ranked at 4% (.04% is probably more accurate) and the Cubs too low at 38%

I’m so glad this godforsaken offseason is finally over. Now we can complain about the regular season (dying laughing).
