I would be pissed about this Eric Thames nonsense, but I can’t help but feel baseball is in the process of being very, very cruel to him.

What’s the point of having an 8-man bullpen if you leave a mediocre lefty in to retire Ryan Braun?

It’s like they replaced “we never quit” with “we’ll make it just interesting enough for you to get really pissed off.”

    Not quite as catchy.

It took the 2016 Cubs 32 games to reach 7 losses.
It’s only taken 13 for these Cubs.

Conclusion: David Ross was worth 19 wins. Prove me wrong.

    dmick89,

Last postseason they had a .647 winning percentage against teams that were well above .500. I’d say they did pretty well.

    dmick89,

True. I was at WS game 3 and couldn’t believe they were getting shutout by Josh Fucking Tomlin.

I expect them to pull out of this, but it’s really frustrating to see a stretch like this at the start of the season.

    Rizzo the Rat,

I don’t think winning percentage is the only way to judge performance.

I don’t think they had a bad postseason. Not sure you can have a bad one and still win it all, but I don’t think they played as well as they should have.

    Perkins,

Yeah, I assume they’ll still be a good team. They still are. It just sucks that the only baseball so far this season has seen the Cubs kind of suck. It would be a lot easier to stomach if it was like that terrible stretch they had last year around the break.

Duensing should not pitch to RHP. Or LHP. Or at all. (dying laughing)

I have no problem with Duensing per se. He’s a lefty with large platoon splits. Lots of teams have them. They’re useful. If Joe would use him as a LOOGY, he should be fine.

    Perkins,

I’d have been okay with Deunsing disappearing before Saturday.

But it’s good to see them come back from such a deficit to take one from a team they should steal from all the time.
