It worked before, so why not…

What’s with all the doom and gloom around here.

What? Over? Did you guys say it’s”over”? Nothing is over until the Cubs decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the goin’ gets tough…

The tough get goin’! Who’s with me?

What the fuck happened to the Obstructed View I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you’re gonna let it be the worst. “Ooh, we’re afraid to go against the Indians, we might get shut out again.” Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I’m not gonna take this. Kluber, he’s a dead man! Lindor, dead! Perez… Dead! You know I’m right. Psychotic… but absolutely right. The Cubs are gotta take these bastards. Now they could do it with conventional weapons, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think they have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part!

And these Cubs are just the guys to do it.

Wind is blowing in from the north and my seats are along the right field line. This may have gone from a warm night to unpleasant.

Here’s hoping the Cubs kick some ass to keep the adrenaline going.

I think it’s safe to say Bryant is not having the World Series he dreamed of when he was but a wee lad.

I blame Cubs fans for this shit. 40K moping, whimpering fucking weirdos creeping the players out, demanding that they make their lives complete.

I am not sure that we as Cub fans have suffered enough to deserve to have our team win.

Time for supplication on broken glass wearing nothing but a burlap sack—because that has never been done before.

nice of Joe to give an out away that inning.

He was probably too busy planning the next onesie photo op to pay too close attention to what’s going on the field.

((dying laughing), I know, I’m being a meathead).

I can’t wait until next year when Schwarber is healthy. Unless the Cubs want to platoon their $180 million man with Soler, I’d like to see Soler traded.

    BVS,

Though I’ll fully admit that scenario assumes Bryant doesn’t reprise tonight’s mailman impersonation. Also that there are bigger things we could 2nd guess tonight.

    Rizzo the Rat:
    dmick89,

I’m not sure Soler has much trade value now. They should have traded him after 2014. We would have hated it at the time, though.

Yeah. Tough to cut him loose now for the almost nothing they’re likely to get.

I’m pretty interested to see what happens with Chapman. Cubs either need to keep him or sign Jansen. Hard to go back to Rondon after all this.

BVS: Seems Zo is the platoon in LF and Baez starts 2b.

Baez will prolly have the same role next year as this one. Needs to show more growth at the plate before cutting too deeply into Zobrist’s PT.

So, Zobes takes the leadoff role from the departing Dex next year? Or does Theo push it and re-up with Fowler for 4 more?

I just don’t understand how one team can be so lucky and the other been so unlucky. The Indians have been ghe better team so far. But more like 55-45 than 80-20 like it’s been.

Leadoff double for the Cubs —> stranded at second.

Leadoff double for the Injins —> gets to third with nobody out.

They let the moment get too big. They let the pressure exceed the pleasure. They tried no to suck too hard.

I’m just joking. It’s fucking baseball. The Cubs are good, but not too good not to have a few stinkers.

Maddon and his fucking quotables. Maybe learn elementary in-game strategy first, Captain Onesie. Then maybe you can dabble in the t-shirt trade.

    Now:
Hey, the Cubs are up to bat again. That was quick.

    The rest of the game:
Hey, the Injins are up to bat again. That was quick.

At least the next two Indians starters suck ass and are on short rest. Maybe the Cubs can break through for one run vs Tomlin.

Why wouldn’t you hit Schwarber for Heyward there? At least get him a look at a few pitches when you’re down five. Seems silly. Easy to second guess tons of things, but that one seemed obvious.

I’m far more annoyed that Schwarber wasn’t used when the game was within striking distance (at least we got to see Coghlan hit!). In any case, I think Heyward has a better chance of getting on base against a RHP than either Russell or Baez. Also, the pitcher’s spot was just around the corner.

Agreed. Kinda. I’m not sure Heyward has a better chance than anyone else to do anything except hit a sweet ass group ball to the right side. Would’ve been nice to have Schwarber see 3-6 pitches to help out tomorrow. Or hopefully in Cleveland.

    Rizzo the Rat,

Schwarber should have pinch-hit early. Montgomery was having control issues. Instead of Wood, why not Edwards or Strop—that is people who reliably miss bats. A bit too much Maddoning to me.
