I”m speechless. I didn’t think there was anyway Walt could poison that kid. What a fucking season. Maybe the greatest season of TV I’ve ever personally watched.

cdw was right all along. I didn’t think there was any way he could either though when cdw said it wasn’t necessarily ricin I wasn’t as confident. Still, I didn’t see that happening until it was made clear it wasn’t ricin that made Brock sick. Once I knew that, based on the discussion last week, I knew Walt did it.

Awesome that the third time Walt spun the gun last week it pointed out the flower. That’s just perfect.

they went out of there way to say it is a very common plant to the region. No reasont o think that the kid didnt get it elsewhere. I think that was a misdirection..

I think next season goes one of two ways

    1. IF WALT poisoned the kid then it is Walt vs. Jesse

IF that storyline is dead then it goes

    2. Walt and Jesse vs. the DEA covering their ass

I dont think walt poisined him. No way. He never left house

I’m 100% certain Walt poisoned the kid. I was 99% certain last week he didn’t, but that was partly because I was thinking it was ricin and I just don’t see Walt doing that.

But this is just too obvious. Walt spins the gun and it points at him. He spins it again and it points at him again. He then spins it one final time and it points right at that flower. Walt was not home all day. The gun pointing to the flower gave him the idea.

ut walt never left the house…

I mean maybe he did but it just seems out of walts character to do it.. I would like a flashback for that scene (of the posioning)

and i dont know what that does to advance the story since pinkman should never find that out

    What a great season

Walt said he never left the house. What else is he going to say to Jesse?

I don’t know why I thought it was so hard to believe last week. Walt does care for Jesse, but he cares for no one more than he cares for himself. I’m certain he’d trade his wife and two children for his life in a heartbeat.

It provides potential storylines similar to how Walt’s not helping Jane when she was vomiting. I doubt Jesse ever finds out. Next season is about Walt vs. Hank. Or at leas the bulk of the remaining 16 episodes will be about that. At some point the blue meth will have to resurface to get Hank interested again.

Well, whether Walt did it himself or had someone do it is irrelevant. Walt was behind it.

The only thing I want to happen next year is to watch Walter become more of a despicable human being than he already is. That path over the last 4 seasons has been fun as hell to watch and I don’t think many actors could pull it off.

I think that Jesse will remain the only thing that grounds Walt and keeps him from turning completely evil, which should set up some interesting choices as the heat turns on Jesse and as Jesse potentially learns the truth about Brock.

I assume Brock is going to be similar to Jane in that Jesse will never know. Breaking Bad hasn’t revealed things to characters long after it happened so I’d be surprised if Jesse ever figures it out. I think Jesse may see the plant and begin to wonder, but I don’t think he’ll ever know for sure. For that matter, I think Jesse is already subconsciously wondering whether or not Walt had anything to do with it. I think the same can be said of Hank too. He doesn’t know Walt is behind it, but I think part of him does.

I thought it was extremely well executed. Rimshot!

VG & company did a marvelous job advancing the plot, advancing Walt’s character and allowing Jesse to return to who is when Gus isn’t manipulating him. The pacing was quick and deliberate. Gus’s death was everything I could’ve hope for such a brilliant character. The reveal of Walt’s poisoning at the very end was straight forward yet subtle. So this was everything I could’ve want from a season finale. It was damn near a series finale in feel and tying up of stories lines. So I’m left with a question of where does this series go from here? (Other than the obvious vector with Hank)

Walt has been trying to survive in the context of cancer and the meth business. Both of which impose themselves on Walt and force Walt to be reactionary. This is important b/c so far Walt’s breaking bad decisions have been reactionary (Not they are any less selfish or despicable). Now Walt has the opportunity to be proactive so his immoral choices can be fully those of his own making. There is a giant hole in the South West meth supply chain and Walt can fill it. But he has a lot of logistical problems ahead. He and Jesse have to cook, have to procure raw materials, need a production facility capable of filling the demand for their product, need distribution, muscle and intel. Plus, Walt should probably get another .38 snub b/c Mike is going to come back with bad intentions.

The writers did a great job of working comedy into this episode while maintaining tension. The opening scene where Walt took the bomb off Gus’s car and put it in bag that magnetized to the elevator door was great.

My favorite joke was Saul speaking to Jesse in the interrogation room.

The scene with Gus waiting in the car for Tyrus’s phone call outside of the nursing home was incredible. The slow zoom in on his face. He was nervous. It didn’t feel right to him. But Gus has pride and vengeance in him, so he must kill Tio. To the shot of him getting out of the car (The music here was perfect. Reminiscent of a modern western) and standing like a gun fighter at hight noon. Slowly walking to his death with the camera behind his shoulder. Perfect.

I figured Walt had to be behind the poisoning once it was clear it wasn’t ricin that poisoned Brock. I’m not sure if I’d have drawn that conclusion if it weren’t for the long discussion last week about who was behind it. I kept waiting for something to happen on the roof that would indicate it was Walt, but that would have been too easy so VG and company found a brilliant way to do it. Once the camera focused on the back yard I knew it was the plant and the spinning gun that pointed at it. How awesome is that?

I thought Sepinwall’s review of the final episode was very good too and he pointed out something I hadn’t thought of. That last scene in the 11th episode when Walt was laughing like a mad man, the way the camera zoomed out it made it appear as though Walt was in a coffin. Walt died that episode and Heisenberg came back to life. Brilliant.

Yeah, the close up on the plant at the end and the spinning gun scene that set that whole play in motion were pure brillance.

Based on the several “Checkov’s Guns” in this season, I assume the car wash to factor in more than it has so far. I could see them building a lab under the car wash. I don’t know if it happens, but it makes the most sense. The DEA would expect Walt to be at the car wash so there’s nothing that would stand out if they were watching it for some reason. Maybe they don’t build one underneath, but add on to the car wash in some capacity. I don’t know, but it won’t surprise me.

Question is, how does Walt get back into the game? I got the impression he and Jesse were done with it. Did anyone else get that impression? We know he’s not done, but I don’t think he’ll be cooking meth when next season begins.

I actually think the car wash is reasonable as long as they don’t build underneath it. It would be hard for me to buy them retrofitting the car wash with an underground meth lab. Yet some how it’s fine for the laundry since I never saw it happen (dying laughing)

How does Walt get back into the game. This is a very important question. There are a lot of routes the writers could take here. But they need to choose the right one or it could ruin the final season. I’ve got complete trust VG will get it right.

I did get the impression White/Pinkman were done with the meth but we know that can’t continue in this series. They have to cook to advance plot and characters.

I think Walt should begin next season by synthesizing potential drug targets for testing on lung cancer cell lines. Since he’s not a biologist/biochemist he’ll probably have to bring someone in for the in vitro assays. I bet this biologist is an FBI double agent. They’ll entrap Walt b/c he’ll need to cook again once his funding runs out and the biologist will suggest it. (Never trust someone that works with flies, worms or fish). Jesse has been spending his money taking Angela and Brock to disney world and Mexico City. The vacations, extravagant living and peyote farm just aren’t a challenge for him. Jesse needs back in the game right when Walt needs him most.

The writers will do a much better job than I just did. Done deal. Sealed.

Yeah, there’s no way they’re done with meth for good. VG even said that. What fun would it be to watch them not cooking meth is essentially what he said. I think it’s going to take a little bit though. I think it was in season 2 Walt was gone from the game for awhile, but they eventually got back together. No doubt that happens again.

Question: does Jesse ever find out about Brock? My first instinct tells me no because that’s just not how VG is or has been anyway. Then I think it might create some interesting plots in the second half of the final season, but at the same time I think you want to milk Walt and Jesse being on camera together for as long as possible. Jesse doesn’t have to find out. Jesse would undoubtedly kill Walt if he learned that, but Jesse could kill Walt for any number of reasons. Jesse was just a small time thug when the series started and since getting in bed with Walt he’s had his ass beaten on a regular basis, been in police custody (and DEA custody) a few times, found himself in bed with maniacs like Tuco and calculated maniacs like Gus. Jesse’s life sucks in large part because of Walt. That is enough for Jesse to kill him.

I don’t really want Jesse to kill him though. I’d prefer Hank doing it. I could even see Walter Jr. becoming so pissed with his father that he’d do it. I trust VG to get it right like you do, but it’s going to be tough to accomplish. Hank has been underestimated for the first 3 seasons and Walt still underestimates him.

Hank will be afer Heisenberg from episode 501. He’ll be all over the cartel/Gus explosion the same day as the lab gets taken out. You have to wonder if Hank already suspects Walt on some level. Like he was fucking with having Walt drive him to the locations. And oh, of course Walt isn’t at my house with this family while the DEA is protecting us. That gambling story and Walt Whitman thing sure are fishy.

Of course, it is easy to have that perspective as the viewer. But I’m damn sure Hank thinks Heisenberg is still out there.

I’m positive Hank thinks Heisenberg is still there for two reasons: I don’t think Hank is going to let that go until he’s 100% certain Heisenberg is gone and second, I think he suspects Walt is Heisenberg in some way.

Hank (the real guy, can’t think of his name) said after one episode this season that Hank doesn’t yet think Walt has anything to do with it, but subconsciously he’s beginning to put these together.

I didn’t pick up on the Shotgun one, but that makes perfect sense now. I wonder if more of the episodes had additional meanings.

I’m amazed at how everything tied so neatly together. Tio’s bell, which had been on the show for 3 years was used as a suicide bomb killing Gus and Tyrus. The rug that killed what’s his face. The .38 that Walt had was used for the first time to point to the plant. Everything in it had a purpose. Jesse’s video game early in the season paid off when he turned and fired in Mexico.

I’ve read some people complaining about the season because it was implausible that Walt could have poisoned Brock. Yeah, it’s implausible and is a bit of a stretch, but so what? It’s not impossible. I’m willing to buy into something that might be implausible when the story itself is damn good.
