Soriano to miss some time and more weather blaming

In News And Rumors by dmick8935 Comments

No word on the MRI for Soriano, but he’s going to miss at least a few days. Blake DeWitt will start in LF in his absence and Paul Sullivan mentions Tyler Colvin and Brett Jackson as potential replacements if he’s out for awhile.

You know how the Cubs have blamed the cold weather all season long? Yeah, now it’s the hot weather.

“The situation with the roster in flux and all the things going on here made it tougher,” Quade said. “To make your debut, pitching in these conditions, is tough here at Wrigley.”

It’s just comical at this point. The Cubs lose because it’s cold and because it’s hot. I guess this team was built to play in 72 degree weather with 8 mph winds.

I’ve heard the Cubs, the managers, and the executives complain about weather before, but I’ve never heard them complain as much as they have this year. It’s embarrassing.

The Astros did not seem to have as much trouble with the weather today.

I hope they don’t call Brett Jackson up this season, at least until September call-ups. He’d just be sitting on the bench anyway.

Tom Skilling Skilly should be fired.

There is one more thing I need to mention here before ending this recap. The behavior in the game threads today was unacceptable. I don’t care who started it or who is “to blame”. Every single poster here deserves respect from others. We are all frustrated with the play of this team. That does not give you the right to call names, use profanity toward others, or personally attack anyone. No names are being named here, nor is anyone being called out specifically. This goes for every single person on this site, each and every one of you, myself included, and I haven’t always lived up to that myself.

(dying laughing) I’ll flag this one ……

However, there is another number for the Cubs that belies expectations, they are third in the league in on-base percentage at .331, but surprisingly last in the league with only 140 walks as a team.

Why is that shocking to anyone? They’re 2nd in hitting so you’d expect their OBP to be pretty good. I’ve seen others mention this and it’s common sense. If your average is good, your OBP will be too.

I saw Garza felt great throwing the side session yesterday. I can only assume they cut it short because they were loving it.

Can’t get to Photoshop now, but it’d be simple to put a “att Garza” right next to the M.

(dying laughing), I missed that to add insult to injury (or I guess, more injury to injury) Soto was hit on the hand by a pitch yesterday.

I thought I read something about that this morning, b. Sounds like he’s fine, but Soriano is probably headed to the DL.

    Wilson Ramos
    Jonathon Lucroy
    Nick Hundley
    Chris Snyder

BJax had a bad day in his first game back from the DL. 4 PAs, 3 Ks and a groundout on 14 pitches.

i think what he means is that a the wind blow out can make wrigley a tough place to pitch for anyone…even good pitchers can have a rough outing with the wind at Wrigley…now add to the equation the fact that the pitcher is a rookie…makes it even harder….
