• New Calendar For Kosuke

We all know the story by now. This is the fourth April in a row that Kosuke Fukudome has treated pitchers like they insulted his sister. In the previous three years, he would fall off the cliff in such a Wile E. Coyote-esque manner, you’d want to make sure he isn’t purchasing his bats from ACME, Inc. The key, obviously, is the month of April, thus I think the Cubs should change every calendar in their organization to this more Kosuke-friendly version so that he can keep hitting until the end of the season.

    Kosuke_April_-full

If they do it, I can definitely foresee a division clinching RBI from Kosuke somewhere around April 178th. That is, unless he is traded at the April 122nd trade deadline.

AC deserves partial credit because for some reason the pictures would not load right. This took way longer to create for the average humor it provides.

2 which is 98 fewer than the number of Nathan H. from Omahas it would take.

Colby Lewis was pitching for TEX last night. In the fifth inning with the score tied at zero, two outs and two strikes, Lewis gave up a three-run HR. Next pitch, solo HR. Then a walk. Then a 2-run HR.

No one booed or sarcastically cheered when he retired the next batter. It was amazing.

    8. 8 Dr. Aneus Taint says:

Cubs manager Mike Quade summed up last night’s game best:
“If you’re going to get beat, you at least would not like to gift wrap the (darn) thing for the opposition.”

Obviously, “darn” wasn’t the word Quade used to describe the Cubs’ 5-3 loss to the Rockies; it was also bleeped in this wrap, and not mentioned at all in this one. Only Paul Sullivan in the Tribune posted the unexpurgated version, and “damn” is hardly as strong an epithet as Quade could have used to describe the play of Starlin Castro in a disastrous third inning when he couldn’t handle one ball and threw away two others for a three-error inning that gave the Rockies three unearned runs.
      – Alvin
That’s 54 words talking about why he used “darn” instead of “damn,” including the word “damn.”

I just don’t understand deleting stuff off a site. I got flamed on Twitter last night for being pissed that we won’t forgive a kid for having a bad inning and I’m not out banning people or deleting tweets or whatever. People called me way worse than what was in that thread. My day is going on pretty much the same today as it would if everyone had agreed with me. Well, Alvin, the ruling on the stay is the compelling factor here. She either allows the stay and dozens of FAs are unemployed throughout the appeals process (which could drag on for months) or she denies it and teams are scrambling around to acquire veteran players the same time they’re finalizing their draft boards.

I doubt Nelson allows the appeals court to rule on the stay (which means that’s what will happen).

The NFL is the most likely place you would ever get me to side with employees over the owners (i hate 18 game schedules, un guaranteed contracts, and i support players holding out) its that unfortunately this administration and judge showed no respect for the process of owning businesses in this country and they have stolen more personal property rights than any president ever

But here, the Players are not third parties tangential to an ongoing labor dispute so
as to be governed by the Act. Rather, the Players–now individual employees (or
prospective employees) after having disclaimed their Union–have proceeded outside of
the framework of labor law. Cf. Jackson v. National Football League, 802 F. Supp. 226, 233 (D. Minn. 1992) (holding that Norris-LaGuardia Act no longer applies to preclude
injunctive relief after court concludes that “any bargaining relationship between players
and defendants ended”). Thus the Players presently are in the same legal position as employees who are not, and never were, represented by a union. This Court is not
convinced that the Norris-LaGuardia Act applies, absent the present existence of a union, so as to prohibit or condition injunctions.

Reason i sside with the owners here is becasue the precedent will be extended to all business owners where unions are involved. And quite frankly the point of a business is to make bank not to split everything equal with your employees

The problem the players in the NFL have is that they already make the largest percentage of revenue when compared to the other 3 major sports. MLB players make the smallest percentage, which is something that is all too often ignored. The owners in the NFL are going to stand pat and I don’t blame them. They’re looking at baseball right now and how there hasn’t been any rumor of a work stoppage in years. They see that baseball players make significantly less than the NFL players do (as a percentage of overall revenue). Baseball owners also have the costs of the elaborate farm systems, scouting across the world (or just Korea for the Cubs).

But I don’t know anything about what’s going on between the two sides and couldn’t care less either.

Part of being conservative is loving freedom right? Then how many people like bubbles would want to give up your right to choose who to work for? Thats what the owners want AND now they want the workers to take less money. Thats not GOP vs Dem thats just fucking insanity.

I’m taking Francisco Lindor here, with the idea that he nudges Castro over to second base in a few years. If not Lindor, the Cubs probably would opt for a righthander such as Dylan Bundy (Owasso, Okla., HS), Taylor Jungmann (Texas) or Matt Barnes (Connecticut).
