  • Midseason look at the Cubs top prospects, part 5

Below is a form for you to enter your top prospects. There are 30 players listed. I don’t expect all of you fill out all 30, but I’m hoping all of you can fill out 10. I’ll publish the results next week.

I added those names and Chris Carpenter as well since I had DJ LeMahieu. It’s active again. If I forgot other names, they’ll just be added in at a later date. I’ve downloaded the first 5 responses so don’t worry about filling it out again unless you wanted to have those players I added included.

I’d assume he got a promotion, which he deserves, but not to the big league. Then again, I guess the Cubs have tried winning with the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Cubs and Tennessee Smokies. None have worked so may as well try the Peoria Chiefs.

I’ve always wondered that. I see Castro dive all the time when he can’t get the ball. I remember Theriot doing it. I think it’s something all shortstops feel the need to do. Maybe they think they can get everything if they just dive.

You all read that article? “Hendry promises to be aggressive” followed by a long list of players he won’t trade, including “pieces… that are going to be integral parts of the club a year from now.’’

So no Marmol or Marshall, and probably not Soto. Then Gordo says they won’t look to trade Dempster, Z, or Garza. Wood only goes if he wants, same thing with Aramis. So who is he looking to trade? John Grabow? Carlos Pena? Fukudome? Byrd? Soriano? I’m not exactly eager to see the return we get for that crew, given their contracts. Pena is probably the best trade bait amongst the lot.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    58. 58 mb21 says:

This all comes back to Cubs fans not allowing the Cubs to rebuild. If Hendry said we’re having a fire sale and are going to look to be competitive in a few years, Cubs fans would probably attack him and burn Wrigley to the ground. As much as some of us would like a fire sale, it’s just not happening. The Cubs know the fans won’t put up with it.

LHP Graham Hicks placed on DL
RHP Robinson Lopez activated from DL
1B Ben Klafczynski added from Boise

It’s my belief that Ozzie can’t beat the Twins because he tries to out “small ball” them. It was just stupid to sac bunt in front of Konerko. Not as stupid as having Marlon Byrd try to sac bunt Soto to 2nd with a 3-1 count and Tony Campana on deck but stupid none the less.

Ozzie takes the bat out of the hands of two of the only three good hitters on the team in a one-run game, and the third bails him out. I love baseball.

SG from RLYW: He’s signed through 2013 with a player option for 2014. I figure he’ll get about 1500 PA through 2013. It’s not realistic to expect him to go 5 for 5 in every game, but I think 1192 for 1500 is realistic. Actually, he only needs to go 1189 for 1500 now. If he falls a few hits short he can pick up the option in 2014 and finish it off.

When I heard this I told my wife that if you were going to a Paul McCartney concert, you don’t want to spend it in a suite, you want to actually be outside to listen to the music. She’s going to see it at Comerica Park so no obstructed views for her (dying laughing)
