The only run in the game was scored in the bottom of the 9th. Logan Watkins went 2-4 and was the only real offense. Donnie Murphy was 1-4 and scored the only run of the game off a Edwin Maysonet (remember him?) single to send the Des Moines crowd happy. Mike Olt hasn't played yet.
Guillermo Moscoso had probably his best game of the year. He walked 3 and allowed 1 hit in 5 innings. He struck out 9. He went 8 scoreless 2 starts ago (and allowed 1 fewer baserunner), but I'll take the 9 strikeouts over the 5. New I-Cub Henry Rodriguez allowed 2 hits but no runs. Casey Coleman went 2 scoreless to hand it over to Brian Schlitter, who rebounded nicely for his first Iowa win.
Javier Baez hit his 5th HR in Tennessee, so he's now tied with his singles total. His line sits at .203/.242/.492. Arismendy Alcantara was 0-fer. Christian Villanueva, Rubi Silva, and John Andreoli each doubled once.
Huntsville has a 70 name-tool alert with Chadwin Stang. He went 1-3 with a walk.
Eric Jokisch was real bad, but was unlucky also. He went 6 and allowed 6 runs, but he gave up 2 HR and only had a WHIP of 1.5 in the game. We has a mite unlucky. Marcos Mateo and Frank Batista each threw a scoreless frame.
St. Lucie Mets 5 @ Daytona Cubs 3 (Game 1)
Zach Cates didn't get out of the first. He allowed 5 runs in 0.2 innings and it would have been worse had Austin Reed not stranded all 3 inherited runners. He pitched 4.1 awesome frames. Chang-Yong Lim pitched 2 scoreless also.
St. Lucie Mets 0 @ Daytona Cubs 7 (Game 2)
Plawecki played 1B in this game and went 0-3. Wes Darvill continued with his awesome day, going 2-3 with a double and a triple. Pin-Chieh Chen went 1-2 with a walk and a jack.
Pierce Johnson had a fairly mediocre performance for him, but it was still 5 scoreless innings. He allowed 3 hits and 2 walks, and fanned 3. Frank of the Valley went 2 innings and allowed a single hit.
Jacob Hannemann went 2-4 with 2 runs and a walk, which was awesome. Daniel Lockhart went 1-3 with 2 walks. Kris Bryant…didn't. He went 0-5 with 5 strikeouts. Top Prospects! Jacob Rogers was 2-4 with a double and a jack and a walk. Yasiel Balaguert doubled as did David Bote.
Thank god that Dillon Maples had a nice start. 5 innings, 5 hits, no walks, 7 strikeouts, no mercy. Corbin Hoffner went 3 innings of scoreless baseball, and my main man CMP went 1 inning in which he struck out the side, than saved 3 kittens from burning trees.
Starling Peralta went 3.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned.
