Daytona Cubs 3 @ Charlotte Stone Crabs 4 (11 innings)
Chadd Krist had the best day, probably, with two singles and two walks. Ben Carhart and Dustin Geiger each added a double; Geiger also had two singles. Pin-Chieh Chen was 2-4 with a triple. That was every hit.
Yao-Lin Wang took the bump and was an out away from a QS. He went 5.2 innings but allowed only 2 runs. Austin Reed was very good in 3.1 relief innigs, allowing a single run. Dayan Diaz coughed up a run in the 11th to end the game. He pitched a scoreless 10th, then Curt Casali lit him up for a home run.
Ugly game. Albert Almora only had 2 singles, twice as many as Gioskar Amaya and Dan Vogelbach. Willson Contreras and Kevin Encarnacion each had a HR. That was all of the hits (though everyone else had exactly one walk, as did Amaya and Contreras. Encarnacion also walked. In fact, there were 8 walks. That's pretty cool!
Juan Carlos Paniagua had 2.1 innings of rough work. He allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, and walked 4. Justin Amlung was similarly poor, though he lasted 4 more outs and didn't walk any (5 hits). Armando Rivero worked 2 scoreless, and Andrew McKirahan gave up 2 runs in 1 inning in his debut (he was promoted from Boise).
Boise made the most of their situations today. They only had 5 hits, none for extras, but worked 7 walks in and plated 5. Carlos Penalver scored twice and knocked in two; he went 2-4. Shawon Dunston continues to have a solid season, going 1-4 with a walk and RBI. He also strole a base (as did Penalver). Rony Rodriguez DH'ed and walked twice, as well as 1B Jordan Hankins. Both scored a run.
4th round pick Tyler Skulina took the start and went 2 scoreless. Michael Wagner allowed a run in 2 innings, and Loiger Padron, Eddie Orozco, and Tyler Bremer each pitched scoreless frames (Padron pitched 3) to end the game.
