2013 Cubs Minor League Playoffs: Tennessee Game 1, Daytona Game 1 (Round 2)

Tennessee Smokies 1 @ Birmingham Barons 3

This was rough. The top 4 in the lineup went 0-15, 7 SO. Rubi Silva had a HR, which was all they had. Christian Villanueva doubled, and John Andreoli had a pair of singles. And that's it. As a team, they walked 0 times and struck out 12. Woof.

Nick Struck failed to provide a quality start. He went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks, and a home run to Trayce Thompson. Yeiper Castillo, A.J. Morris, and Tony Zych each pitched a scoreless frame, with varying degrees of dominance.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 0 @ Daytona Cubs 5

The last time the Daytona Cubs lost, civilization had just developed animal husbandry. Fairly exciting is the fact that Vogelbach and Bryant combined to go 0-7, BB (Vogelbach), and 3 SO. Pin-Chieh Chen doubled and singled, and Zeke DeVoss (in the 2 hole) doubled twice and walked twice. Dustin Geiger doubled and singled, as did Anthony Giansanti. Elliot Soto also drew a walk.

Pierce Johnson was pretty dominant, scattering 5 hits and no walks in 5 innings. He struck out 6. Jeffrey Lorick pitched 3 shutout relief frames, and Zach Cates walked the bases loaded in the 9th but struck out two and emerged without surrendering a run.

Since putting a futures lineup is in vogue, I'm going to throw one out with no context whatsoever.
