I think he’s on to something here. Maybe he’s right! Maybe we’ll be great! Hey…wait a minute…Damn you Hope Monster! You had me again! (angrily shakes fist in air)

Bill Curtis is being interviewed on the Cubs radio broadcast right now. I’m not listening to it, but I imagine it’s going something like this:

Keith Moreland: “Bill, great to have you, you’re a real legend. What are you working on these days?”
    Bill Curtis: “Thanks, Keith. I, Bill Curtis, have been examining…the dark…underbelly…of the Chinese mafia in Chicago where I…Bill Curtis…am from…and…where I…Bill Curtis…have lived…and the Cubs…play and where I…Bill Curtis..am watching…”
Keith: “…uh, Sorry Bill, that’s the inning. Great to see you.”

    @ josh:
That’s probably true. Strikeouts can look really ugly and he’s going to strikeout a lot. He has talent. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

    @ Aisle424:
My exact feeling watching the movie (also, how they both disappeared for a few years and came back at roughly the same time.)

(Also, note that I don’t consider it a serious flaw, either. Superhero movies always require some suspension of disbelief.)

As soon as I say BJacks is looking overmatched, he looks like an old pro. (dying laughing)

Cubs are playing at a 1.000 clip when I see them during this decade. They are only .600 for the century.

They’ve won every time I’ve seen them live. If someone would only buy me a season ticket and help me get a job and residence nearby (with flexible hours), the Cubs wouldn’t lose a home game all year.

Maybe Cubs fans from all over should start a fund to get me to as many Cubs games as possible (no refunds if it doesn’t work).

that one girl at BCB had seen the Cubs like 1000 times at home and they had something like a .986 winning percentage when she was there. (dying laughing)

    @ mb21:
We’ll have to chip in for a Rizzo-the-Rat Winnebago then. And a passport in case they have to play interleague games in Toronto or exhibition games in Japan. This is getting expensive.

In other news, Harper went 0-5 and is now .245/.321/.396. He still has a long way to go (and a lot of time, of course).

Aaron Cook: 1 K in 5.1 IP, improving his strikeout rate for the season. Unsurprisingly, the guy he struck out is Mark Reynolds.

I always thought Randy Johnson had a 20K game, but there were only two other people with 20K games besides Wood, and they were both Roger Clemens.

One interesting (probably coincidental) feature of all 4 20-K games is that in none of them did the pitcher allow a base on balls.

Glad the OV CON was such a success. We’ll have to do it again next year.

Although the Toyota sign and minitron ruined the glory of Wrigley for me, the bathrooms were superb and the concrete netting has also been upgraded.

The OV-CON was well attended. My mom was even there. So were six Dutch guys who, when asked by the beer vendor whether they wanted Bud or Bud Light, responded by asking which was stronger.

Speaking of beer, I am now trying Shiner Bock solely because I read about it here.
