EL means more money, but I feel it severely impacts our ability to seriously compete for a top 4 spot, due to reasons I’ve cited. Take the CL money, buy a real forward and some depth at fullback and CB, and go get a CL spot for 2012-13

Thereabout. Somewhere between $90 and $100 million. They have a lot of payroll coming off the books after this season: Fukudome, Silva, Samardzija, Ramirez, and Wood. That’s about $40 million.

If you add in arb-eligible players and auto-renewal contracts you’re probably up to at least $110 million in payroll next season. Let me look real quick.
