You know, Al spends $400,810 a year on his bleacher tickets, but they used $400,000 of that to pay Mateo, so it really only costs him $10 a game.

Ha.
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Al really did spend that much a year on his tickets. No wonder he’s so humorless.
Theriot has 8 errors including tonight’s action so far…in less playing time than Starlin Castro if I’m not mistaken. How come they never talked about moving Theriot to 2B before Castro was even on the radar? Or at least, I never heard about it.

They didn’t really have anyone else. They weren’t too fixated on Theriot at short though. They were going to go after Furcal before he resigned with LAD. I’m sure there’s some other FA shortstop that I’m forgetting too.

Hobbiton press says Wells and Cashner threw bullpens today, back in 2-3 weeks.
Brenly’s comments remind of the conversation between Stringer and Slim Charles when Stringer told Slim to kill Clay Davis.
Hobbiton press says Wells and Cashner threw bullpens today, back in 2-3 weeks.
For some reason I thought they’d be back sooner. Wasn’t the original estimate one month?
To make room for Cashner and Wells, Zambrano and Dempster will take the bullpen test.
Hobbiton press says Wells and Cashner threw bullpens today, back in 2-3 weeks.
That seems about right. I think we figured 6 to 8 weeks when it happened regardless of what the Cubs said. That would be right at 6, 7 weeks.
For some reason I thought they’d be back sooner. Wasn’t the original estimate one month?
Yeah, but that never made sense. I talked about that in a comment a day or two after the diagnosis. It was a 6-8 week injury for each of them with no setbacks. The Cubs just did what most teams do and give us a number that was less than that.
Neither picked up a ball for 2 weeks. That meant they’d spend the next 2-3 weeks gaining strength and then begin throwing, which is right where they at right now. I figured week 6 would be a rehab, but you made it sound like they wouldn’t rehab.

It’s beyond me how a team as shitty at shooting as ATL can shoot the lights vs. the Bulls at home.
Rose —-> MVP
Bulls are playing scared.
Bulls defense isn’t terrible, either.
Well, with Boozer and Deng on the floor together, it’s not great. Thibodeau is going to have to not do that anymore.

Didn’t really care if he was arrested or killed. Whatever. I’ll also admit that the scenes outside the White House last night weren’t the least bit appealing to me. The first thing I thought of when I saw that was how the terrorists have celebrated deaths of Americans. It did not look good in my opinion. I may be in the minority though after reading through a thread on The Book Blog.

Well, this one is prob over. ATL steals homecourt. As long as Joe Johnson scores 40 and hits 40% of his 3′s, they should be okay going forward. (dying laughing)
(dying laughing), Crawford wasn’t even looking at the basket.
Rescue Me. Do I need to watch this show or not? I haven’t seen any of it, but I’ve heard it’s pretty good.
I jsut dont fucking get why they are playing like this. Yes the Hawks shot the shit out the ball but for real. And Rose couldn’t hit anything from outside. Plus, the offense just seemed out of whack in general. Poor ball movement and bad shots all night.
Meh. He should never be on the floor with Rose. But he’s a great guy to have to spell Rose.
He’s a back-up when Rose needs a blow, nothing else. He was on the floor with Rose to start the 4th when Atl made their run to take the lead for good. He hurts you because he takes stupid shots that aren’t in the flow of the offense and he’s not a defender. Don’t ever want to see him playing the 2 again.

Russell hasnt been as bad as expected. Still early
I know Kershaw is a tough lefty, but given the choice between Reed’s sad ass with the platoon advantage and Colvin vs. a tough LHP, in a lost season, I’d probably go with Colvin every time.
Terrible coaching decisions by thibs all around. The team just looked lazy

This is true, but it’s almost as if someone finally taught James Russell how to pitch. He also faced SD and gave up four or five runs and SD sucks worse than the broken Dodgers. Of course he had his fair share of luck as the defense made some nice plays behind him.

So anything happen in last night’s Cubs game that I should care about?
So anything happen in last night’s Cubs game that I should care about?
I didn’t watch it or read any recaps or anything, but I’m confident when I say: (dying laughing)

I confess I did check the box score.
I confess I did check the box score.
This is the worst thing you’ve ever done.
This is the worst thing you’ve ever done.
I know. I’d flag it myself if I could.

Sounds gay.
Discussing Carlos Pena on twitter, I got linked to this article from last year about adjusting expected baseline for his performance.
Sounds gay.
Is there anything wrong with that?

This thread’s comments will probably be fun, but I’m just more concerned that there’s another baseball idiot named Paul Sullivan:

That Paul Sullivan is the source of my Soriano axe grinding after he laughed at me for daring to compare the Crawford and Soriano deals. He has the Red Sox FO’s cock squarely in his mouth. I get a huge Smug Boston Sports Fan vibe off of him in general, and he’s managed the unlikely task of extending that vibe to Liverpool by becoming a fan mainly because the Red Sox owners bought the team.
Good to see Soriano crushing the ball. Good to see Shark pitching decently. Good to see early in the season that the Cubs suck and I don’t have to waste my summer watching this shit team.
Holy Fuckign shit. I’m writing the Brenly piece now, and Muskat went in and removed the Bin Laden quote. It’s gone now. Thankfully B pasted it here. It’s goign live. Cakes can run but he can’t hide.

bah, I should have screen capped it
should also have thought of passing that link to Calcaterra. Oh well.
I’m pretty sure you’re talking about Patrick Sullivan, b.

(dying laughing), I thought that’s who Mish was talking about. I can’t read (dying laughing). Yes you are right.
I don’t know why I didn’t screen cap that thing. I may be open on another computer still.
Not on the internet anymore —> Didn’t happen
It’s a sign of how few people read Muskat’s blog. I searched for it on twitter and only 4 people seem to have caught the quote including myself.
Doesn’t the other Paul Sullivan write for Lookout Landing?

That’s Jeff Sullivan. Fuck all of the Sullys, there are too many of them (dying laughing)
I think I published the Brenly thing, but it’s not showing up yet. Hmmmm
