It’s not a no-no if there’s a walk. I fucking hate that no-hitters are called no-nos. A perfect game should be a no-no because it’s no hits no walks.
/Pedantry
Does he really? I’ve had it on mute on my iPad while watching last night’s Justified. (dying laughing) that I didn’t even realize.
It’s not a no-no if there’s a walk. I fucking hate that no-hitters are called no-nos. A perfect game should be a no-no because it’s no hits no walks.

Correct. I’ll flag myself.
Dont understand the Christain Ponder pick
Dont understand the Christain Ponder pick
I love how the analysis basically was “Well, someone has to play QB, and Ponder played 3 years so he has experience”
We’re talking NFL draft over here
http://www.obstructedview.net/unobstructed-views/cubs/draft-thread.html
Well there goes Dempster’s no-hitter.
Chris Young, of course. It seems like he gets a XBH in his first plate appearance in every game he plays against the Cubs.
Dempster is hanging his pitches.
What the hell Dempster.
No more no-hitter for Niemann. Sorry Mish.
Thanks B
Dempster just can’t execute his breaking pitches this year. Hanging everything.
Well shit.
I thought this was the the game the Cubs would win. They’re getting swept.
Everything is missing up in the zone. Something be amiss.
Somethign is up with Dempster. Either the Cubs monkeyed with his mechanics, or he’s fucked up.
Guys i am a fucking expert
i post on a DMB message board and we have a pretty solid cubs thread. This si what i posted today at 7 PM
http://antsmarching.org/forum/showpost.php?p=12527548&postcount=41216
So… has anybody heard what Silva is up to? I assume he’s found voodoo and will keep on pinning until the entire Cubs rotation is on the DL.
Fucking christ… Dempster sucks
I’m calling it the curse of the Cubs number 1 starter.
What is Bob talking about? Dempster hasn’t been inconsistent, he has pitched like shit.
Number one, shmumber one. Z is probably going to have a piano fall on his head tomorrow. And Garza can just keep his .414 BABIP all season.
Dempster is brutal. Two grandslams?
How bad would Z be getting ripped by the (dying laughing)lipop Guild if he’d started like Demp has?
What is Bob talking about? Dempster hasn’t been inconsistent, he has pitched like shit.
But he’s done it grittily.
But he’s done it grittily.
True, he isn’t a lazy latino.
How bad would Z be getting ripped by the (dying laughing)lipop Guild if he’d started like Demp has?
He’d be ripped worse, but Dempster isn’t immune at all.
Id keep him in till he throws 100 pitches
looks like Clayborn is about to be drafted by Tampa, MB
Honestly, the only thing that could’ve happened to vindicate Silva was for some unfortunate accident to befall the entire rotation. Annd that’s pretty much happened.
(dying laughing) @ Cubs
Great, another bullpen game. Quade pitching himself would yield a better outcome.
He’d be ripped worse, but Dempster isn’t immune at all.
The Dumpster references are flying on Twitter.
Id keep him in till he throws 100 pitches
So would I, bubs. I’d just have a meeting with him and tell him to pitch like it was a day off. I wouldn’t want him stressed out there and as long as he can pitch like it doesn’t matter, I wouldn’t waste the bullpen.
Did anybody else see Q facepalm after the HR? Somebody needs to screencap that…
Wow wow wow (dying laughing). 7 ER in .1 innings
Cubs to lose by 13?
I think the Cubs need to look at some video because this kind of pitching for this long would lead you to believe Dempster is tipping pitches.
Did anybody else see Q facepalm after the HR? Somebody needs to screencap that…
I’ll see if they have the replay available or the photo on AP.
9th HR Demp has given up I think. WTF? Ugly. and 4 walks. I can’t watch anymore.
Wow wow wow (dying laughing). 7 ER in .1 innings
Glad I just dropped him from my fantasy team (dying laughing)
We might get to see a posittion player pitch tonight.. This is must watch tv…
Silva strikes again
Oh fuck. Berg got drilled.
I think the Cubs need to look at some video because this kind of pitching for this long would lead you to believe Dempster is tipping pitches.
I think so too… everytime he flicks his glove he throws a meat ball
(dying laughing) Berg might have to leave!!!!
Cubs to lose by 13?
Probably. It’s funny because earlier today I collected some runs scored and allowed data for teams since 2001 through April and then from May through the rest of the season. Pythag isn’t that great a way to look at teams right now, but we have to know something by looking at it. So I’m going to try to figure it out.
Ouch. Cubs are going to have to call someone up tomorrow.
Silva strikes again
Isn’t Silva with the Yankees?
Thsat might have hit him in the nuts
Isn’t Silva with the Yankees?
Yeah, he’s learning voodoo from them.
Thsat might have hit him in the nuts
Better his nuts than mine.
Isn’t Silva with the Yankees?
I think so. But NY has gotta be within voodoo-doll range
Yeah, he’s learning voodoo from them.
Maybe he’s just sticking pins in Rothschild.
This team is probably going to lose 100 games…
I think the Cubs need to look at some video because this kind of pitching for this long would lead you to believe Dempster is tipping pitches.
Maybe. But he was all over the place on top of that today.
I think the Cubs need to look at some video because this kind of pitching for this long would lead you to believe Dempster is tipping pitches.
could be, or he’s fallen off the planet.
You picked a bad time for that post, MB (dying laughing)
sorry. this is embarrassing and I feel bad for him in fact.
I think the Cubs need to look at some video because this kind of pitching for this long would lead you to believe Dempster is tipping pitches.
The wiggle evolved because he was tipping, so it’s possible another tell has been discovered.
This team is probably going to lose 100 games…
But they will be the first team ever to have done that by hitting every .500 point on the way through the first 10 losses.
It’s not a tell, I don’t think…he’s missing everything up and hanging a lot of pitches.
Isn’t Silva with the Yankees?
Is he? I know Colon is, and pitched a gem last night.
Silva was pitching batting practice for the Yankees and was in the minors the last I heard.
if location is everything, Dempster is buying a lot of swampland.
God Carlos pena is turrible
Me thinks hes not getting another pillow contract anywehre else
Is he? I know Colon is, and pitched a gem last night.
Yeah, he’s in the minors somewhere. Laughing as he watches all 9 of the Cubs starters who were better than he was disintegrate one by one.
Byrd should’ve swung at the first pitch.
if location is everything, Dempster is buying a lot of beachland in Fukushima
.
if location is everything, Dempster is buying a lot of swampland.
(dying laughing), HG. I don’t think the Yankees have assigned Silva anywhere yet.
good ol .196 obp for tyler
and I thought the Cubs starting pitching would be their “strength” going in (dying laughing)
to be fair, Wells and Cashner got hurt, but shit, this is awful.
the NFL draft has been… weird so far… but carry on.
good ol .196 obp for tyler
I don’t understand it, but he hasn’t been getting regular ABs. Fukudome is hot though.
Stanzi is still up for grabs. Who wants him, MB?
(dying laughing) @ hot tub at the ball park. forgot they had that there
(dying laughing), HG. I don’t think the Yankees have assigned Silva anywhere yet.
I’d bet he’ll make it at some point. they can afford him for a few starts.
I don’t understand it, but he hasn’t been getting regular ABs. Fukudome is hot though.
I think BABIP explains most of the weird batting shit that’s been going on so far, and Garza. I don’t know WTF is going on with the other pitchers, though.
Def. losing by at least 13…
Oer under inning before Quade complains about an unwritten rule?
Can teams just forefeit
I am intrigued by Ryan Flaherty and Steve Clevenger
I’m not sure the team loses 100, but I do think it will be close. I went into the season thinking about 75 wins. I also thought they had a significantly higher chance of winning fewer than they did more. I could easily see this team losing 95 games. They’re not good and they have almost no upside whatsoever.
I think BABIP explains most of the weird batting shit that’s been going on so far, and Garza. I don’t know WTF is going on with the other pitchers, though.
I don’t know if BABIP explains Demp. When you give up as many HRs as he has, you’re getting pounded.
I think Mike Quade made the “I’m so fired” face a few minutes ago.
(dying laughing)
Berg is going to walk the pitcher. Nice.
A forfeit might actually be better than letting all the rest of the pitchers injure themselves.
Anybody got that Bugs Bunny gif lying around?
I’m sure Dempster will turn it around, don’t get me wrong, but I think they miss Larry Rothschild right now.
I think BABIP explains most of the weird batting shit that’s been going on so far, and Garza. I don’t know WTF is going on with the other pitchers, though.
I’m still not too worried about Dempster. i figure he’s either injured or tipping pitches at this point. Whatever. I think it’s clear Garza is going to improve considerably as you implied. Zambrano and his 88 mph
fastball concerns me quite a bit to be honest.
I think Mike Quade made the “I’m so fired” face a few minutes ago.
I hope that doesn’t happen, RC. I’m not real impressed by Quade yet but he deserves at least the full season. Also, I have a bad feeling that fucking Brenly would be taking his place.
Larry was a good pitching coach. I liked larry
Z hit 90+ on the gun in his last start. It was pretty consistent, but most of his stuff was off-speed with lots of movement to my not-so-trained eye.
I don’t know if BABIP explains Demp. When you give up as many HRs as he has, you’re getting pounded.
That’s what I mean. Babip explains why Pena, Soto, Colvin, Kosuke, Barney, Baker and Garza, and possibly even Castro are all performing way better or worse than expected. Bascially, with the exception of Castro and Ramirez, all the good hitters have been bad so far and all the bad hitters have been good thanks to crazy Babips.
But I don’t understand what the fuck’s going on with Dempster. Or Z. At least Cash and Wells made themselves easy to analyze by just getting injured.
at least Z still has lots of movement on his pitches. Garza’s fastball is straight as an arrow and the slider barely moves.
(dying laughing)
Koyie.
Koyie Hill!
(dying laughing) @ Koyie breaking the shut-out. Seems appropriate.
Koyie Hill just showed me. He’s obviously the one other good hitter on the team.
I’m still not too worried about Dempster. i figure he’s either injured or tipping pitches at this point. Whatever. I think it’s clear Garza is going to improve considerably as you implied. Zambrano and his 88 mph
at least Z still has lots of movement on his pitches. Hopefully it’s something different that he’s doing, but I’m far from convinced. His strikeout totals blow my mind though. I did not expect that. I expected lots of home runs. Weird.

At least Castro can play defense every now and then.

In other news, Castro is the one good thing on this team.
At least it’s fun watching Castro. Great play.

For sure. With Pelini, I’m always pretty confident in the defense.
I can’t wait to see how Beck runs the offense. I’m sure Martinez will get the ball to start, but I hope to see them mix it up a bit.
I can’t wait for the Cubs’ comeback tonight. You know, the one that would have never happened last year.

it will be much more multiple than the last 2 years, for sure, and you can’t base the offense on 1 player like Martinez was last season. He’s not durable. From what I’ve read and saw in the spring game, we’ll see a bunch of stuff, and they’re going no huddle, up tempo.
