It’s gonna happen.

I don’t think the Cubs will score 24 runs in any series this year. And it would still be true even if they played a 7 game series with someone (dying laughing)
I disagree. They’re going to score 29 runs in the World Series, b. Done deal. Sealed.
Being serious for a moment, that would be hilarious if they went all season without scoring 24 runs in a series. That would almost be impossible.
I uploaded this image to the server
Hah, at first I looked at the wOBAs and thought that Soto and Pena must have recently turned it on more than I thought. Then I realized that they’re projections. (dying laughing)
(dying laughing) fans do not like Ryan Theriot. At all.
(dying laughing) fans do not like Ryan Theriot. At all.
The “right side of the rivalry” remark got him their undying dislike. Had he not said that I’m positive he gets applause.
I agree, melissa. I was even surprised that it was almost exclusively boos. I didn’t hear any cheers.
Theriot said in the dugout before the game that he was hoping he would get cheers so it pleases me greatly that he was met with a resounding chorus of boos.
I agree, melissa. I was even surprised that it was almost exclusively boos. I didn’t hear any cheers.
Overwhelmingly boos but I could hear a few cheers. Did Cub fans actually expect him to not say something like that on St Louis radio?
Brenly was right on there. Pujols played Soriano and it was embarrassing to say the least. Horrible. Field the ball throw to the next fucking base.
Pujols exerts an Anti-TOOTBLAN field
Overwhelmingly boos but I could hear a few cheers. Did Cub fans actually expect him to not say something like that on St Louis radio?
I think so. Cubs fans expect former players to treat them with the utmost respect even though the fans have no intention of doing the same.
Overwhelmingly boos but I could hear a few cheers. Did Cub fans actually expect him to not say something like that on St Louis radio?
I know it won’t happen but if Pujols came here as a free agent I wouldn’t expect him to say he was on the “right side” of the rivalry. It was classless and disrespectful to the org that brought him up and gave him a chance to play at the major league level. I never liked him but I also thought he would be smarter than to say what he said.
I think so. Cubs fans expect former players to treat them with the utmost respect even though the fans have no intention of doing the same.
(dying laughing) You’re right. Not sure why I was giving Cub fans credit for thinking normally. No dinner for cwolf.
I never liked him but I also thought he would be smarter than to say what he said.
Theriot very rarely said smart things. Even when he was trying to become the go-to guy for the media (aka pandering his ass off), he never seemed to say the right thing.
I think you guys underestimate how much undeserved love Theriot had from Cubs fans. They would have cheered his ass had he not made those remarks. Cubs fans never got on him when he made bone-headed plays, you’re forgetting he was scrappy, white and cheap.
Home plate ump does not like the low strike tonight.
berkman
bases loaded and nobody out only means inevitable cubs fail
Berkman looked bad doing that, but I agree with Zonk that it was a much tougher play than it looked with the wind today.
a theriot/skip middle infield is pretty bad
a theriot/skip middle infield is pretty bad
Skip is on the DL. This is Punto at 2b. He used to be pretty great defensively, not so sure now.
carpenter got away with that one
Home run number 4 would be nice here
(dying laughing), Cubs lucky they didn’t hit into a triple play there
I’m surprised the Cardinals didn’t at least try for it.
good baserunning from soriano
Pena is seeing the ball better the past few games
garza selflishly grandstanding
Shit, Zonk just said that Geo is hurt.
good AB so far from Castro
well shit. somebody go get beef castle a train ticket
Cubs unleash the secret weapon. No way are the Cardinals prepared for Koyie. (dying laughing)
There’s your patience MB (dying laughing)
great job hill
6 baserunners, 2 runs for the Cubs
/Way of Life
koyie hill is the worst.
Only one pitch for Koyie. Way to work the count (dying laughing). I guess he’s showing Byrd how it’s done.
Oh shit. He hurt a groin or something.
Great catch by Adolpho!
Only one pitch for Koyie. Way to work the count (dying laughing). I guess he’s showing Byrd how it’s done.
Well, the previous batter did walk on four straight balls so the pitcher was due to throw a strike. He wasn’t going to catch Koyie off-guard and sneak one by him.
Two nice plays by Soriano.
Sounds like Doug Davis is (not surprisingly) getting knocked around in the thin air of Colorado Springs.
brenly trying his best not to say anything good about soriano

2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 29 pitches, 19 strikes for Davis
It’s too bad Junior Lake’s patience is worse than Josh Vitters. He’ll never amount to anything because of the horrible patience, but if he could somehow just have bad plate discipline, he’d be valuable.
The same is true for Jae-Hoon Ha. He has more power than Lake, but has little chance of getting on base unless it’s a hit.
Probably nothing, but Welington Castillo was pinch hit for.
7 singles for the Cubs, nothing for extra bases

Maybe someone tipped off the firewall that we’re discredited (dying laughing)
I do think that Castillo is on his way to Chicago. He was pulled for a pinch hitter moments after the news reached us that it was a strained groin for Soto. Could be a coincidence, but probably not. I wrote something brief on Unobstructed Views: http://www.obstructedview.net/unobstructed-views/cubs/welington-castillo-to-chicago.html
I’ve never seen an outfield let so many balls split the gap and go to the wall. It’s not because they should be hit that far. It’s because they play it like that. Soriano, great as his two plays were earlier, played a single into a double and then Fukudome and Marlon Byrd don’t know how to field either.
soriano (dying laughing)
Over Brett Jackson’s last 10 games, he’s hit only .212. However, he has a .395 OBP and OPS over .800. That’s fucking crazy.
This outfield for the Cubs is comical.
So much for any goodwill Soriano generated from good defense earlier in this game (dying laughing)
great job punto

i would call it little league
Koyie Hill tried to kill Carpenter (dying laughing)
i would call it little league
(dying laughing) Bob said the same thing about Pujols taking 3rd on Soriano.
What’s up with Trey McNutt? He hasn’t pitched since May 1st.
Bob Brenly was talking about Theriot’s shortcomings yet still basically called him gritty (dying laughing)
The whole gritty/scrappy argument is only used for players who aren’t very good. It’s literally the only positive thing that someone can say.

Sounds like if the Dodgers go to bankruptcy court, McCourt can keep control of the team. I hope that’s what happens. I really, really hate the idea of MLB taking over. MLB agreed to allow him to own a team, which is bullshit in itself seeing as they have no legal right to determine what McCourt or someone like Mark Cuban owns.

Wellington Castillo up to back up Koyie Hill (dying laughing)
I’m sure there will be an excellent excerpt from mb in tonight’s preview on how awesome Koyie is. Hopefully Koyie starts 80% of the games while Soto is out (dying laughing)
I bet I could make my son cry if I showed him that. He’s 4.

Just tell him the other guy was auditioning to replace the aging Batman.
I didn’t know you met Obama, mb.

What’s wrong with In-N-Out? Animal style!

Did you watch that video?
Choice A: Wait in a 100-car line to get a double-double.
Choice B: Wait in a 5-car line to get a double Whataburger.
That’s an easy one for me. B? GW?

Oh yeah, I agree with you then. I never understood the idea of wasting gas in a drive-thru line, but that’s probably too far off the point.
In-N-Out burgers are really good though. If I had an equal wait time I’d eat In-N-Out. But I’m not going to wait a thousand years in a line while hemorrhaging gasoline to get that burger.

I get it, In-N-Out Burger is good. But what the fuck is wrong with those people. They have to be waiting hours in a fucking drive through line.
That’s sad. (dying laughing)
