Cubs trade Matt Garza to Rangers for Mike Olt, CJ Edwards, Justin Grimm and PTBNL ***UPDATED***

It appears it's back on. The Cubs are about to trade Matt Garza to the Rangers for Mike Olt and others once again.  I'm surprised by this since I figured Olt was the reason the trade broke down in the first place.

More info later if the trade is completed.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports on Twitter that Joe Ortiz could be included in the trade.

Jeff Passan tweets that the final deal is Mike Olt, CJ Edwards, Justin Grimm and a PTBNL for Matt Garza. Me happy.

I’m really surprised the Rangers did this. This seems like a very poor trade on their part. I welcome it, but doesn’t make sense to me if I’m a Rangers fan.

    @ GW:
I would assume so. The Cubs aren’t going to move Bryant to RF because of this. Like they’ve done with Baez, he’ll remain at the most valuable position until he shows he can’t play it. I don’t see this front office making any other decision with regards to their prospects.

What intrigues me is that the Cubs have Castro at SS, Baez potentially on his way and Olt. I had assumed Baez would move to 3rd, but now I wonder more about the supposed Cubs confidence in his ability to stay there. Maybe Castro gets moved to CF.

I’m not worried about all the “blocked by another prospect” stuff. The only guys that are blocking anyone right now are Castro and Rizzo, and that’s only because of their long-term deals. Anyone else could fail between now and the majors.

Plus, most of these guys are relatively high on the defensive spectrum. For example, Lake was supposedly blocked by Castro/Valbuena/Barney… and he gets to the majors and is now playing CF.

They have lots of talented hitters playing premium defensive positions. This is a good thing. They’ll figure out positions when each guy has individually demonstrated enough success to be promoted to the big league club.

    @ dmick89:
why a picture, when we can’t hit the ball. Should have traded our power hitter Andrus straight up for him, and got a hitter, stanton, rios, tavaris to beef up this line up since Cruz will probably be gone like braum is.

I tend not to write many responses, however i did some searching and wound up
here Cubs trade Matt Garza to Rangers for Mike Olt, CJ Edwards, Justin Grimm and PTBNL ***UPDATED*** | Obstructed View.

And I do have a couple of questions for you if it’s allright. Is it only me or does it give the impression like a few of the responses come across like written by brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are writing on additional places, I would like to keep up with anything new you have to post. Would you make a list of all of your communal pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

First of all I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I’ve had a difficult time clearing my mind in getting
my thoughts out there. I truly do take pleasure
in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how
to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Cheers!
