Cubs trade Guillermo Moscoso to some team in the San Francisco area

In News And Rumors, Transactions by dmick8933 Comments

The Cubs have traded Guillermo Moscoso to the A's Giants for cash or a player to be named later. Moscoso was a waiver pick for the Cubs who was having a pretty decent season at AAA. It's nice that the Cubs can turn a waiver pick into something even if its just a reimbursement of expenses they've already incurred. If they choose a PTBNL, which I suspect they will, it's doubtful it will be anyone who could be a potential impact player. Still, maybe they get something out of him.

The Carlos Silva meme originated from a Sullivan column, IIRC, where he showed absolutely no understanding of how to calculate what percentage the Cubs owed him from the trade.

I believe that meme originated around the same time as the great “Why The Fuck Does No One Know If Aramis Ramirez’s Option Year Vests If He’s Traded” meme, which was one of my favorites. Literally no one knew the answer. It was apparently the most secret contract in sports history.

    Woah…

The Phillies have reached agreement with Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez on a deal worth over $50MM, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports (via Twitter). With bonuses, Gonzalez’s contract could be worth more than $60MM. The Red Sox were the other main contender for Gonzalez, Passan tweets.

That was a bit of a surprise.

I’m not saying you’d be the best player on the team; just that you’d be an improvement over David Adams (until A-Rod returns, of course).

Yankees 3B-men are .217/.278/.291 and some fans actually have the balls to suggest they’re better off without A-Rod.
