Cubs Lineup

Lackey P

What to Watch

In my opinion, Leake is the type of pitcher who could give the Cubs the most trouble when he’s on.  He throws strikes at an above average rate, and gets ground balls at an above average rate.  However, he doesn’t get too many K’s, and the Cubs do a lot of damage when they put the ball in play.

Lackey and Heyward are making their return to St. Louis.  I’m sure some of the classy fans will clap, and the jerk fans will boo.  Hopefully Lackey keeps the ball down.

Will the Cubs Win?

They’ve done it a bunch so far, so why not.

    Myles,

When I was a kid I was in an Odyssey of the Mind competition where we had to build a small bridge out of balsa wood, and see how much weight it hold.

Same here. I think I had to do that like three separate times in my wasted youth. Once for OM, then we did something similar for a “technical education” class in middle school. I think we must have done it in Cubs scouts at some point too.

    berselius,

I built a robot for my OM. When my brother did OM (and I was the coach) they made a mouse trap. OM was goofy fun.

So did we ever establish how Myles dislocated his shoulder? If no info yet I’ll just assume he was fighting the Yakuza.

Our bridge sucked. We couldn’t even get it to support the initial platform that the weights were supposed to go on. So now I’m an accountant.

    dmick89,

‘Yuge’ is the term the cool kids use these days.

People who say “huge” are losers. If you want to be a winner, say “yuge” or get your ass kicked by those who do.

This strike zone, lemme tell ya, it’s gonna be yuge! Biggest strike zone, best zone in the world, you’re gonna love it.

Either the Gameday cam is off, or the umpire behind the plate is having a really bad night. Not very consistent zone at all.

I guess I should point out that last night I dreamt that I wrote a satirical song to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas which single-handedly prevented a Trump presidency.

Seems more plausible than this game.

    cerulean,

My point is that the current rotation consists of hitherto weak hitters. And Arrieta. The success they’ve been having this year is probably an aberration.

    Rizzo the Rat,

Got it. I think we were spoiled for many years with the likes of Z in the lineup.

As for the current rotation, I like the improvements from Lester—he has looked less lost and it has shown up in his batting line. Hammel was all that much worse than Arrieta last year either. I haven’t caught any Hendricks at-bats yet, so no comment.

Everyone savoring the first defeat of the Cardinals? They have put up the most runs and the Cubs did what was done to them yesterday. Good to see Bryant get that inning started and Lackey to cap off a crooked number. And it ended before midnight. I couldn’t ask for a better outcome.

That game was enjoyable for the snippets I Gameday’d/watched/listened to. I happened to listen to the bad error that allowed Soler to reach base before the floodgates opened. Very fun.
