Cubs at Padres game thread

In Game Threads by berseliusLeave a Comment

It’s been a while since we had one of these (and I can’t even write more than that one sentence and will make mb21 do the rest).

Although Carlos Zambrano is not with the team, it’s almost certainly his final game employed by the Chicago Cubs. In his honor and the complete crap that this current team is, I suggest you watch this game instead.

Or maybe you remember what was one of the most entertaining moments in Cubs history.
might as well have called this “The Wildcard Games Thread.”
I like playoff baseball, but I’m not as excited to watch a Wild Card race as most of you are. I still have trouble with the idea of celebrating a wild card. You finished in 2nd place and in the case of these teams they’re way behind the top team in their division.

    That’s just me though.

Only 556 seats per game were sold at Wrigley this year compared to last. I thought early in the season it would be much more than that.

They also have Hill, Campana, and Montanez. Also, while I’m fine with Blake starting over Barney, why wait to do it until a southpaw is on the mound?

At least it’s a 8:30 ET start. If it was one of those 10pm games I wouldn’t make it through the second inning (dying laughing). Nice of the Padres to schedule it earlier.

Cuey told Witty in Spring Training that he was going to start today. That’s a promise you can’t break.

Well, being thrown out is part of the definition. Though I would be impressed if the Cubs managed to pull off the rare double TOOTBLAN on the same play. They only have five more innings to go if they want to do it this year.

(dying laughing), I tune in to the Cubs game just in time for

    -a Campana RBI IF single
-a Campana-induced TOOTBLAN to end the inning
    -Dempster walking everyone in sight
    -a Castro fielding error

We just need the Cubs to go down on 4 pitches in the next inning for this to be a microcosm of the entire season

Unless Pujols can homer in his next AB (assuming nobody gets on base) it will be the first time in his career he won’t hit .300/30HR/100 RBI.

He got the 30+ HR of course.

The Red Sox lose in classic (for this year) Red Sox form, and the Rays scrap-ass a win together against Yankees AAAA. The Sox are going to take a hit out on Girardi.
