OSS: MY EMOTIONS

Three up

1. Kris Bryant saved the day with a walkoff bomb in the bottom of the ninth, after the pen had blown the lead. He ended the game with a WPA of 0.98.

2. The offense woke up in the fourth inning, batting around on a previously-cruising Jorge de la Rosa. My dogs were very disappointed that the Cubs did all this scoring without any home runs, because no cookies. Castro had the biggest WPA in the rally, with a go-ahead two run single.

3. I’m tempted to just put Kris Bryant again. But instead I’ll give it to Addison Russell, who made one of the best plays I’ve ever seen (and likewise for whoever was doing color commentary on the Rockies broadcast) by a 2b to get Tulo out late in the game.

Three down

1. Jason Motte, oy. It’s almost like not striking people out and giving up a ton of fly balls is not sustainable. I still feel pretty good about the Cubs picking him up, but there are at least three better pitchers in the pen and they all pitched before him. Too bad Neil Ramirez still doesn’t appear to be nearly 100%.

2. Hendricks was very un-Hendricks-like early on, seemingly catching whatever was going on with Jason Hammel’s command yesterday. He settled down after the Cubs big rally, but not a great outing.

3. DJ Fucking LeMaiheu, ugh. At least when Carlos Lee was the most notable Cub-killer, at least he was a good player. And I keep refusing to acknowledge that he started the ASG.

Next game: Yohan Flande vs Dallas Beeler, 7:05 PM CT. Feel the excitement! If the wind is blowing out this game might end around midnight.
