Cubs 4, Pirates 0 (4/27/15)

OSS: Jason Hammel had good stuff and the Cubs cruised to an easy 4-0 victory

Three up:

1. Once the Cubs took the lead it felt like this game was in hand, as the Pirates had no answer for Jason Hammel. He finished with a line of 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K and was hitting his spots all game. JD pointed out that his stuff would have looked just as good on a warm day in July.

2. Rizzo did Rizzo things at the plate today, knocking in two two-out RBI and adding a walk for good measure. His slash line for the year currently sits at .344/.494/.508. I can live with that.

3. (I liked this game so much I cut the list short)

Three down:

1. Nothing much to complain about from the Cubs at all today, so I’ll stick with the fans. Whoever was ‘heckling’ Worley should be banned from Wrigley for life. I had to watch half the game on mute due to those assholes. I guess more people than Ronnie Woo Woo like to demonstrate their ability as a human air raid siren. It also sounded like some of those howling idiots followed the Pirates here from PNC.

2. Speaking of mute, ugh to Kevin Millar in the booth for the seventh inning. Truly indeed, he is the bro-iest bro who ever broed, bro.

3. I feel bad for Coghlan, who was the only Cubs position player not to get a hit today, though it wasn’t for lack of effort. He hit his first three balls to basically the same place on the warning track, all of which would have been HRs a month or two from now, and finished today with a laser beam right at the third baseman that doubled off Castro.

Next game: Jeff Locke vs Travis Wood, 7:10 PM CT
