Did The Cubs Win?

OSS: Tsuyoshi lays an egg, and the Cubs bats (with Luis excepted) fall mostly silent.

Three Up

1. Luis Valbuena hit a 3-run HR, which provided the entirety of the Cubs’ scoring. In the best case scenario, Valbuena is a super-DeRosa in 2015, and even if he starts, you don’t feel too bad.

2. Anthony Rizzo actually had a better game than Valbuena, going 1-2 with 2 walks. However, he didn’t hit a home run, and authors dig the long ball.

3. Carlos Villanueva might not be long for the Cubs, if they can get a team to take a decent chunk of his salary. If someone is willing to pay $1.5 or $2 million of his contract, he’s out of here. Yesterday, he pitched very well in a longman role.

Three Down

1. Starlin Castro had an awful game, leaving men on base every time he came up to the plate. He went 0-4 with a SO and 7 LOB.

2. Tsuyoshi Wada‘s line: 4 IP, 5 R (5 ER), 4 BB, 4 SO. He gets one more turn in the rotation until it’s turned over to Dan Straily.

3. The Grimm Reaper has been straight awful as of late. He allowed 3 runs in his inning of work.
