Cubs 3, Dbacks 4 (5/24/15)

OSS: ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Going .500 on a west coast road trip still feels like a success.

Three up

1. Chris Coghlan had the best day for the Cubs, with a two run HR in the fifth to keep it close and some surprisingly solid defense.

2. Jorge Soler had a nice day at the plate, going 2-3 including a ground rule double that would have been a HR at any non-stupidly designed park. He came around to score on Coghlan’s HR.

3. Montero had a solo shot early in the game, otherwise the Cubs bats were pretty dormant today.

Three down

1. Hammel wasn’t at his sharpest today, leaving a lot of balls up. Still, he managed to go seven innings, which was nice for the pen.

2. The biggest negative WPA play of the day was Castro’s GDP in the sixth. Castro also had an error on the day. I keep wondering when he’s going to get a day off. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him and Soler re-flip in the lineup next week.

3. I’m glad to see the back of Chase Field for the rest of the year.

Next game: Roark vs Wada, 1:20 PM CT
