Royals 8, Cubs 3 (5/29/15)

OSS: The youngsters do their thing to keep the Cubs in the game, but they are sunk by a Cubes outbreak.

Three up:

1. All four of the Cubs runs came from their big prospects. Kris Bryant got the scoring started with a double in the third that scored Addison Russell.

2. Jorge Soler hit a booming two run homer in the sixth to bring the Cubs within one.

3. And Addison Russell tied the game with a solo shot in the seventh against Kelvim Herrera.

Three down:

1. The biggest play of the game was a two-run error in the top of the eighth by Dexter Fowler. The Royals had already taken a one run lead with Wade Davis and Greg Holland due to come in the game, but this blew the game open. Whatever caused Gregory Polanco to fall down for the game winning run in the Pirates series a while back got even and took out Fowler. Fowler also went 0-5 at the plate.

2. Pedro Strop was all over the place, which is certainly concerning. Given Rondon’s similar inconsistency so far this year we could be seeing Rafael Soriano in a Cubs uniform soon.

3. Edwin Jackson came in to clean up in the ninth, giving up two hits, a walk, a stolen base, and a run. Pretty tough playing with a 24 man roster.

Next Game: Ventura vs Wada, 5:15 PM CT
