Hey Josh and OV–congrats on the partnership. This is fantastic! Keep up the good work everyone. And thanks for the laughs.
@ SVB:
Fuckin’ A!
Comic is a verb now?
BTW, I enjoy the comics more now that I don’t have to click to another blog.
Good move.
According to Stewart his wrist injury is related to a 2005 injury. He’s set on surgery and could be back in sep

I like to bend words to my will. That’s what’s great about English, any word can be anything if you establish a context.

Agreed with SK. I’m also glad they’re here so it’s one less link to check out. (dying laughing)
@ Mercurial Outfielder:
Of course, there’s always a chance for abuse, but the best poetry finds ways to use words in surprising and interesting ways by creating a tapestry of context that is unique. I think the trap people fall into is in thinking it can be done easily, without thought.
I actually like the sentence “Verbing weirds language.”
I figure as long as I know what someone means I don’t care how they use a word. Or spell it.
If the Phillies are firesaling do you go after anyone on that roster?
@ GBTS:
That’s crazy.
Cubbing garbages baseballing..
@ GBTS:
safe or out?
@ mb21:
For the Cubs? The team is so old. I just don’t see how anyone fits. At least none of the big names that occur to me. Cole Hamels, maybe? But what do you have to give up for him?
@ mb21:
Shakespeare nouned verbs and verbed nouns and turned words into new forms all the time. The usual response is “Yeah, well you’re not Shakespeare.” But why not? Why can’t we experiment and try new combinations and new words in interesting ways to create new kinds of meaning. To me, the minute you start saying that there are immutable laws of language, you diminish its power.
Ergo I will comic when I damn well please!
@ josh:
I figure Hamels is a free agent so I’d not trade anything for him. I do wonder about going after Utley even though he’s an injury risk at this point. Probably not considering what the Phillies would want though.
@ josh:
Like I said, as long as I know what someone means then it doesn’t bother me. Use the word however one wants to as long as I’ll know what that person means. I even knew what SK meant in #15. (dying laughing)
@ GBTS:
The runner also scored from second since there was nobody covering home.

No one on the Phillies interests me.
@ BubbaBiscuit:
Yeah, Halladay, Lee, and Utley are a bunch of bums.

Yep.
@ Mercurial Outfielder:
Those guys are great, but I think the cost would be too high for a team trying to rebuild it’s farm system.
@ mb21:
The only counterargument on Hamels would be that there would have to be a good chance he’s traded and/or extended and never reaches free agency. I still think the cost in terms of prospects would be too high.

Hey congrats Josh. Looking forward to some non-disreputable content on this blog (dying laughing)

You mean that ass is trying to undiscredit us?
@ GBTS:
I was kind of expecting the next installment of Jason Castro home run reactions following the Rizzobomb. Not all of us can hear what he’s saying.
@ BubbaBiscuit:
I know. It’s a bold move.
The Rockies don’t have a single starter with an ERA under 5. I don’t know why they released Moyer; he was about average for that staff.
@ Rizzo the Rat:
It might have something to do with the fact that he’s a thousand years old and probably has no upside.
@ josh:
Oh, for sure. The Cubs can’t afford any of them, but to say none of them are interesting trade options is baffling.
Considering salaries I dont think I’d have much interest in Lee or Halladay considering their age. Hamels I do but since he’s a free agent I’d not give anything up for him. Utley, I don’t know. Depends on the price but he’s not someone you can count on for more than 100 games at this point. Don’t know what his salary is.

@ Mercurial Outfielder:
I’m interested to see if teams take the bait. I think those guys could make the trade season very exciting.
@ Mercurial Outfielder:
I don’t see how they are interesting for the Cubs. Other teams should definitely look into them if they are going to contend this year or next. Way too expensive in either contracts, stuff sent in trade, likely both for this Cubs team.
Charlie Brown’s team carries two catchers?
Also, LaHair + Castro —> ASG

@ Rice Cube:
Wait, the Cubs get two???
Everyone who voted Sandoval over Wright should be ashamed of themselves.
YAY CASTRO AND LAHAIR!!!!
LaHair must be LaRussa’s Omar Infante pick.
@ GBTS:
You GBTSed that giffingly speed.
