Nice start. Now let’s see if Lackey can stop giving up hard contract.

Yeah, 99, 100, and 95 mph for batted ball velocities in the air does not inspire confidence.

I hope the Cubs can get an opportunity to score some runs, such as a bases-loaded, no outs sort of thing.

Right shoulder stiffness for Lackey. Not good.

Yep. FWIW, Maddon said he got some treatment and already feels better. But with a 12 game lead I’d probably skip his turn.

Is it wrong to think, given the 12 game lead, that Heyward should sit for a week or so and try to work this shit out with Mallee on the side for a while? Put him in as a defensive replacement in the later innings. Poor guy is lost at the plate and watching him up there without a clue is getting too painful. The defense isn’t enough anymore.

And FWIW, Lackey says he’s fine. But I suppose if he’d just had his right arm amputated he’d still think he could make his next turn.

I’d still skip one turn. It’ll be Coors anyway. Nobody in their right mind wants to pitch there.

So, you’re saying he is going to pitch.

is there reason to think that this will do anything?

Outside of keeping him away from the batter’s box, I doubt it. But it feels like it might do something. What more do you want?

    dmick89,

I heard that the song accompanies a video highlight reel that has been in regular rotation for a while. Why that song was chosen, I have no idea. It looks more like bad judgment than anything, though.
