Podcasting the Cubs

In aside by berselius24 Comments

Before gallivanting off to the hinterlands of Molina-esque interwebs, Berselius recorded a podcast with longtime reader, sometime commenter sitrick2. We talked the Cubs for about an hour, including talk of prospects, the Dempster situation based on what we knew on Tuesday (not much), and The Future. We also talked some Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, and other TV stuff to close out the podcast.

Since AC, 424 and even you are now podcasting does that mean I have to start one? You guys are really putting the pressure on me to be a better me.

I’m sure that’s not true. I’m going to listen to it after while.

Haha, I say that after listening to it like four times in the editing process. Nobody should listen to their own voice that much.

I’m listening now so I’m going to have the play by play evaluation.

Agreed with both of you on TDK. Overrated. I didn’t enjoy as much as berselius did the first time and was closer to sitrick on my first viewing. OK movie. Haven’t seen the last one, but I think it will be hard to beat Batman Begins, which I thought was a really good movie and maybe even a bit underrated.

Also agreed on Rizzo. Good, but not going to be an MVP winner. Agreed that he tops out at about 4 WAR. Fringe all-star is a great way to put it. Great value for cheap, but not an MVP.

AC and 424 should post their podcasts as an aside each week too. Half the time I forget to listen because I don’t check the sidebar much.

They’re doing podcasts? I haven’t been reading every word. This was just a one time thing, though we might do some tv ones in the fall once things start up again.

Liked the Dempster/Garza discussion, which obviously took place before Garza’s injury. Garza’s perceived value may have increased slightly if the cubs got better than expected for Dempster, but I don’t know that they’d have gotten more. Personally, I’d think if Garza was all that valuable he’d have been traded at some point in the last 9 months. The idea that he might want a $100 million contract has to make the front office laugh and it pretty much ended contract negotiations from what I can tell. It’s entirely possibly teams value the additional year of club control while ignoring his likely salary. Who knows?

I suggest having a (scripted) catchy intro and sign-off line. That prevents podcasts starting off and/or finishing with awkward bumbling.

All the awkward bumbling in the middle of the podcast is fine, as long as you don’t begin and end it that way.

    Now to download that fucker.
