  • Jonathan Mayo’s top 100 prospects (and top 20 Cubs prospects)

Despite promoting top prospects Anthony Rizzo and Brett Jackson this year, the Cubs still managed to land five guys on Mayo's top 100 list. (EDIT: Apparently Jackson still qualifies for the list) For those too lazy to click through

    Javier Baez (24)

    Albert Almora (52)

    Bert Jackson (74)

    Arodys Vizcaino (76)

    Jorge Soler (77)

He's got a two day head start on you, which is more than he needs. He's got friends in every town and village from here to the Sudan, he speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom, he'll blend in, disappear, you'll never see him again. With any luck, he's got the grail already.

Not really sure why Almora’s picture is in a Rockies uniform. Probably the wrong one. That or he was traded a month ago and Nick Cafardo hasn’t reported on it yet.

Also notably missing is that 3b that the Cubs picked up in the Dempster trade

I think the funniest thing is that he rates Jackson above Soler.
